Just to add to the confusion.. the DE I am speaking of is the FOOD GRADE DE....not the other DE which you can't eat and
is not a good thing if you get it into your lungs...
Some people do ...I just choose not to...it taste like chalk...literally
It is but it taste like ...well...chalk
gets rid of worms too....Way back in the day ....Thanx Grandma...it works but. ugh
...Male ostriches set on nest not the mama..... so you might want to look that up but dada does the setting and they are highly aggressive and protective at the job too......even to their mates....has he built a nest? Any deep dark Emerald green large
eggs?
Yeah... about...I added lights to the end of our days so my roo stays on to the twilight which is
pretty constant in the mornings. I have lights out consistently where they roost...our lights
can be on but not theirs or they think its time to get up again
oops....been there done that...lol...I had to use a Spray bottle with water and lightly mist the ground...another layer of bedding on top...do not add anymore DE to this layer. At least you won't have to clean the coop for a while...and any creepy crawlies won't survive.
Would it be easier to add 'light to the end of the day' ...during the shorter light months...at night when you keep them inside the coop
Lock up and you go to sleep...Can you put the lights on a time...they would be of when you come out in the morning.
Or it would be the opposite if the sun is...
It getting to be winter and molting will cause hens to drop egg production. Unless of course the others are sharing the
nest with the broody. In that case that is where those missing eggs could be. I have two hens that share nest.
