    What is your favorite breed?

My Black Copper Maran, and I have 5 breeds. She is quite the little spunky girl. I ordered a full size, but she only weighs 3 pounds and gives me large eggs almost daily. Every time I am outside, she I close by giving me the squat.

Help! New neighbor suddenly hates chickens!

After you have your chickens securely staying in your yard, politely ask her to stop throwing her garbage in your yard, and if she persists, take a shovel and throw it back in her yard.

Help! New neighbor suddenly hates chickens!

Try clipping their wings of the offenders so the don't fly up in the trees and over the fence.

    Limping hen Stella

Not a huge difference. The one that is hurting her, right side, is not swollen. No obvious damage to either foot.

    Limping hen Stella

My beautiful Stella started limping yesterday. She stand on her left foot. Upon inspection there appears to be nothing wrong with either foot, but the left leg is larger, I guess because she uses it more. Any suggestions? She is the top bird of 8.

The pullets and Wyandotte in the middle back are 21 weeks in this photo. Also the day she lay her first egg.

Wild Wyandottes! What should I do?

I have enjoyed this post. I have a Copper laced Wyandotte, and those look to be about 16 weeks old. The one with a single comb look like a mix.

My friend used pallets for his small nesting area and used chicken wire as an enclosure under his deck. Ingenious!

    Feeding worms

I was working in the yard and digging up quite a few worms. My hens are in a coop, so I decided to give them a treat. Is this bad? There seems to be a lot of watery poo going on today.

    Automatic watering system

My System: 30 gallons. My chickens prefer the cups, but I did not want a large pipe. This is how it ended up. Make sure to use a Tap & Die for the holes along with plumbing tape. Makes things a lot easier.
