Yolko is getting picked on by the rest of the flock while she’s molting, she has neuropathy according to the vet and can’t get around very easily. So we’ve moved her into the house for now while her feathers grow back in.
She’s started making these purring/growling noises in our house whenever...
At this point, we are thinking she broke her hip and the recent red mark is just wear and tear from resting on her hock. The entire leg seems non functioning and is dragging. She is still eating healthy and laying eggs even!
She's a tough girl.
Wish we knew how to help a broken chicken hip...
Can’t find anything wrong. No swelling, nothing. But I’m positive I heard her fall inside the coop the night before she started limping. We adore our 4 girls. The thing is she was only limping a very tiny amount at first. Now the leg seems completely useless. We are so concerned.
She was actually the “new” chicken. She came with a friend who is still perfectly fine. That was about a year ago. We have two other chickens here that we’ve had for about 4 years.
It’s been about three weeks. We think we heard her fall at night in a new coop we built that she wasn’t familiar with. The next day she had a very subtle limp. Since then she has ended up like this. Still eating great and laying eggs. About a year old. But heartbreaking to see her like this...
Created in 3D software first. Then the real work began. Zero carpentry experience. Made some mistakes, but overall pretty happy with the end results. The ladies love it!
