    What layer this jumbo egg?

that would be something to see. My barred rocks are still laying small/medium eggs but all my leghorns lay large ones now. They all follow me around like I'm the pied piper. All but one doesn't want me to touch them though but they eat out of my hands. The one leghorn that doesn't mind is one...

    What layer this jumbo egg?

My guess would be the Leghorn. I have six and I got this egg the other day from one of mine. I get a ginormous egg every now and then and normally it's been a double yolk egg. My girls are about 7 months old.

Love my Barred Rocks. They are generally the pretty quiet ones but I love to hear them talk while foraging around. So sweet! My cockerel is a good boy too! Eats out of my hand and looks after all his girls. ❤️

Best place for flock during a hurricane

I'm in the central GA. area and just to be safe I am putting my flock in my garage/shop. I figure the easiest way to put them all in there would be to do it Sunday night before the storm gets here when they are in the coop for the night. :) I'm going to put a tarp down and some straw. Move...

Dark tips on comb, sneezing, head shaking and looking at the sky*Pic*

I know this is an older thread but I had noticed my 6 month old cockerels comb looking the same way the last week or so. If it's excess testosterone it would make sense since he's doing his thing with the girls quite frequently. Other than that he looks and acts great. Runs up to me when I go...

Comment by 'rdfields68' in article 'Ten Reasons You Should Spend Ten Extra Minutes With Your Flock Every Day'

Great article! Very true too! I spend every afternoon outside with them. When it's been hot I have a fan out by my chair when I'm hanging out with them. When they are out in the afternoon and I disappear inside for a few minutes when I come back out they come running. I love my girls and my...

    Guess Who Will Lay First!

All of mine are about the same age within a week of yours. Not are squaring yet but one was singing the egg song the other day. I am hoping that within the next few weeks I'll see at least one egg out of the ten of them. Lol.

    My first chicken coop

I've always wanted chickens so finally a couple of years ago I built one. It took me about a month and a half of weekends and after work to get it done but I am pleased and impressed that I built it all by myself (not bad for a gal). I found the plans for it online. In the last couple of years...

Topic of the Week - Adding New Chickens to the Flock

Yesterday I put my new 11-12 week old pullets (6) and my little rooster in the run with Maggie my 2 yr. old red star. After living side by side for a couple weeks I am pleased to say they are all getting along wonderfully and they went right to roosting. I was so stressed for nothing. Of course...
