I have leghorns, California cross, Rhode Island reds and barred rocks. Up until this week the white eggs were all the same size and the brown eggs the same size. Now I'm getting this gigantic egg almost daily. Have my Muskovy ducks actually decided to brave the chicken coop to lay in egg? Or could someone else have possibly laid it?

That is..... a jumbo egg! Wow! I'm not sure who laid that. I just have a quick, off topic question for you. How do you like your RIR hens? Are they sweet birds? Thanks! Good luck with your chickens! :)

My guess would be the Leghorn. I have six and I got this egg the other day from one of mine. I get a ginormous egg every now and then and normally it's been a double yolk egg. My girls are about 7 months old.

Mine are about eight months. The day just looked closer to duck size but I can't imagine that duck going in the henhouse

My barred rocks are the friendliest, the Rhode Island ate nice to the other chickens but they don't hand feed like the others . I've heard they are friendlier than mine tend to be

Good to know! I'm trying to figure out the best breed as an addition to my flock. I put up a thread but haven't gotten many responses. :( Thanks for your help! :)

that would be something to see. My barred rocks are still laying small/medium eggs but all my leghorns lay large ones now. They all follow me around like I'm the pied piper. All but one doesn't want me to touch them though but they eat out of my hands. The one leghorn that doesn't mind is one that was sick for a couple weeks so she stayed in my bathroom until she was better.

Just jumping in here... my friendliest are my speckled Sussex if the 12 different breeds I have. They are so sweet and curious and like to be held. They were also my first so I've probably spent more time with them. A great breed if you don't have them yet.
