Hi Kim. Yes all ok here thanks. I just didn't make it into my house at all yesterday (the joy of living between two houses) and I don't have internet access on my phone. Will respond fully on your Charlie and Harry thread. x

Hello! Texas Kiki said you have performed crop surgeries in the past. I was wondering if you knew of any over the counter antibiotics I might be able to purchase online without a vet prescription. Also, in your experience, did your chicken begin having subcutaneous fluids around the surgery site? I'm 2 days after performing the crop surgery and just noticed my hen has some fluids building around the area.

Hi! I really appreciate your information... I realized that I feed my small flock a 16% protein food with cracked corn and oyster shell but even as my Cochin is sitting here being hand-fed, she's picking out her choice morsels! I thought the expensive, local feed was the route to go: but I think not. Please remind me what you recommend, as I am going to buy some more today anyway!

It is of course my old avatar that somehow got lost in the changeover. Kathy prompted me to get it sorted. Someone on one of the threads thought I was holding two broad swords, which I guess it does look like from a distance.

Hi, I am very new to chicken owning. I had 4 original hens. I purchased 11 more chicks in August that I keep separately. Recently I had to put down one of the new ones when she could not walk. Today we notices that the lone rooster is now having trouble walking. I read a response you wrote on Mareks. I am afraid this is what is happening to us. Do you think I am going to lose everyone of my chickens?

I think it's safe to say that there will be at least a couple of thousand poultry keepers in the Bishop area, so your anonymity is probably safe. I used to live at Willington for a few years. Did you get your poultry from Durham Hens at Tow Law?
