Hello all (Again)
Just reintroducing myself on the forum after years (5 to be exact) of inactivity. I joined when I was in high school and my love of chickens and all thing chicken related was realised, took a break when I went to varsity as I had to rehome my chooks. Now I'm back and so happy...
Oh my gosh!!!!
I'm just gaga about birds especially chickens, even more specific bantam chickens and I'm afraid to be more specific than that
Here is sadly my long lost Sebright mix rooster Owen, he was a real ladies man,but he was odd too. He did his little courtship dance to all the other...
Hi there, also had the same fear when I raised my first flock of hens...thought that one of them was actually a rooster!!!
Until I found out contrary to popular opinion, these tiny red spots do not indicate a fertilized egg. Rather, they are caused by the rupture of a blood vessel on the yolk...
They are really perdy
They first one looks like he could have been an Old English Bantam mix.
The second not so sure about
All I can tell is that they are both Crele coloured which is my favourite colour......well chicken wise that is
Aaaaaaaaahhhhh.......... thats it, I need me more chickies
Yours are soooo cute, congrats. Its true silkies do steal your soul and they can make you really addicted to the breed.
I've never really owned them, but i have to say Delawares are becoming "hot" this seasonas well as plymouth rocks. I wish I could own some. But as for color, I think lavender, crele, barred and gold or silver lacing are the "in thing" right now.
OMW!!!!! I love chickens u guys
I learned after I got chickens that 3 are not enough. They lay enough eggs for the whole family but they dont stop the chickie cravings disease.
I also learned that silkies are working with cochins in trying to take over the world, I fell for them anyway

Us too. They are really interesting pets.
Okay so the standard breeds I'm considering are Orps, RIR, Faverolls and now Australorps.
Thanks soooooo much guys

Haha You just read my mind. Sadly, I cant since I leave in a suburb thats strict when it comes to chickens.
But so far, i like what I'm hearing especially on BO, Faverolls and RIR. For how many years do these breeds lay eggs and when does production decline?
