    Thank you for the info, I feel a little more confident now. If she is still broody next weekend I'll attempt to graft on a chick or 2. Right now I have her separated with plastic eggs in a dog crate.. We will see how it goes.

    I'm happy to report that my new lill hen laid a hard shelled egg today.... In the nesting box!! Her favorite protein treat is a tablespoon of canned salmon (no salt added) that I found in my pantry. 10% calcium too! She loves it

    What would you choose?

    I just started my flock about 3 weeks ago & I have 3 barred Rock & 2 RIR. The farm I got the original 5 from also have New Hampshire & Buff Orpington. I would like to add 2-3 more to my flock... What would you choose & why? They also have Araucana. They are for eggs & entertainment only.

    My girls love grapes & blueberries. It's very hot here today do you think I could give them some blueberries I have frozen? They gobble them down whole when fresh the little greedy girls.

    Thank you all so much for the warm welcome !! My girls seem to be settling in, already gave me 3 eggs. :-) I did clip the wings & will definitely take the advise about predators. I live in the city so my main worry is the neighbors cat, owls, hawks & those rotten squirrels my neighbor feeds.
