I'm new at this but if I understand correctly, while my birds are molting egg production will decrease. How long will the molting time last? Also, I have younger birds that should be just about the right age to start laying but they're not, could that be because of the molting?

I paid extra at Atwoods because this was supposed to be a pullet. I got two of them but one has a larger comb than the other. The photo is the one with the larger comb. The rest of my birds don't seam to have this. And I only have two of this bread.

I'm still getting shell-less eggs about every 4 days. How ever I have another bird that laid our first real egg, but I don't know which one.
Ok, it happened again. I found another "egg" under the roost last night. I added some sand to soften the ground in hopes that I can get a whole egg to confirm if it shelless or soft. Time to add some calcium, but should I add it to the food or in a bowl by itself?
Thanks for your input, feeling better now. I thought that I had read somewhere that the first eggs can be unusual. But I was surprised seeing an egg this early.
My chickens are no more then 4 months old. I found a "egg" that I am assuming was dropped from there roost. The yolk and white looked fine. The inner shell skin looked ok too. But there was no evidence of a harden shell at all. (See photo)

Here is a couple of pick of his leg. Today he doesn't want to put any weight on it. It just sit kind of dormant. His tows stay curled if puts weight on it
I'm sure it is just an injury. He was fine the night before and then when we went to check on the flock then next day I noticed he wasn't his energetic and playful self. There isn't any noticeable injuries, and I don't believe it's broken because he did walk on it.
