I have ab about 8 week chicken with a hurt leg. It's almost as if hyperextended it. Right now she is isolated so she can move much. Any ideas?

Also I sent a pic of it. Can anybody identify its bread and sex? Thanks for your help.

I can't tell your bird's breed, but it is definitely a cockerel. Could you post a picture of the leg? Are there any obvious injuries? Its possible that this leg was injured/sprained from fighting or jumping down from a roost. If so, just make sure that he doesn't move around a lot. Giving some vitamins would also help. Another possiblity is that he has Marek's Disease. Here is a link on Marek's: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/the-great-big-giant-mareks-disease-faq

I'm sure it is just an injury. He was fine the night before and then when we went to check on the flock then next day I noticed he wasn't his energetic and playful self. There isn't any noticeable injuries, and I don't believe it's broken because he did walk on it.

I have him in a pin to keep him from moving around or jumping, also the other birds can't bother him. I guess we'll just have to wait until he's healed.

Here is a couple of pick of his leg. Today he doesn't want to put any weight on it. It just sit kind of dormant. His tows stay curled if puts weight on it

No he died about a week ago. I don't think he was eating or drinking. His leg was broken At the hip.

Mine has been just sitting for about a week. I think it's the same thing. I keep feeding her and giving her water every time I can and cleaning her. But not looking any better. Can a broken hip recover?

From what I read, the chances are slim. I was considering putting him down. We had tried to tie the leg in hopes of him learning to hop on one leg.

I put her down today. The vet exerayed her abs said nothing was broken. He thought it was Merek's.
