Ya just a ziplock freezer bag! I also put hot water in some water bottles, put them on a sock and put it in with some newley hatched chicks to keep them warm too!
My incubator is a Hova bator. Styrofoam box with a see through top. It has a fan built in to circulate the air inside to help even out the heat around all the eggs. That is why I am not sure how long this method would work. I candled some eggs last night and they look good! Will know better at...
I am in Canada and they are fairly strict. But like l said I am not going to breed them for profit and they can come and go as they please. They are doing very well by the way!!
My method is only a temporary fix. It didn't take too long to boil the water on the bbq. I am basically just keeping the incubator warm enough until the power comes back on. Not sure how this method would work over a long period if time. I am just keeping the incubator temp at the proper temp...
Well as usual the power has gone out and I have eggs in the incubator!! So I boiled some water on the BBQ, poured it into a ziplock bag, put the bag on top of the incubator, covered it with towels, and it is reading 100 degrees and holding!! I have dine this in the past and so far have I had...
