I just found a person on Craigslist who breeds seramas a few weeks ago, they are so cute and neat. I took two home and they were super skiddish at first, but they are coming around.
Currently I am working on getting them integrated in with my two bigger girls... Anyone have much experience with...
Hi there! I have a small backyard flock-- just an EE and a barred rock lady. My EE started laying around a month ago, and has been a good producer. My barred rock started squatting around the same time as my EE, but still has not produced a single egg. My EE has been laying in the nest box...
Starting to get the suspicion that this little girl is actually a guy. Which would be a huge shame, as she is my favorite of my three chickens. Sorry about the crappy pictures... my phone's camera sucks.
Would love some opinions. Thanks for your help!
You could also try syringing her a little egg yolk. They're so tiny and young, and I think sometimes there isn't too much that can be done for them. :( I've heard somewhere that something like 1 in 4 chicks doesn't make it... and you are right around there with that statistic. It is so sad...
Thank you for your reply, TattooedChicks. It has been really hard to see her not able to move.. was really hoping I could get her better but I sure haven't seen her improve. :( I do think sometimes they just aren't meant to make it.
Do you have any electrolytes/nutridrench? Maybe she needs a little boost with that? You could try carefully giving her some with a syringe-- drop by drop one the side of her beak so she can drink it slowly.
Unfortunately, some of them just fail to thrive... I'm learning that the hard way.
Hey guys! New here, and new to chicken keeping, though I have been doing research for weeks before getting my baby chicks.
So sorry to have a first post that is sad, but you all are so helpful and I can't think of a better place to ask about this.
So, last Tuesday I picked up four...
