Hello all!
When I was letting the chickens out this morning I noticed my hen, Stacy, was laying on the ground in the coop. This wasn’t particularly unusual, but she is a percher. While the other chickens were happily eating grass, she was standing underneath my deck. Her posture was awkward...
update: her ears look to be okay. it is actually her earlobe that has the mass. it’s become very wrinkled and elongated compared to her other earlobe. i can hear a whistling noise when she breathes.
my hen mabel, six years old, is acting very unlike herself. she is at the top of the pecking order and never gets bullied; we also don’t have a rooster. she has been showing every sign of sickness: lethargy, depressed appetite, hiding, and unusual posture. she never ran when i approached her and...
hello, i found something while giving her an inspection. my chicken, opal, had a similar lump on her earlobe.
except, there was no visible damage. mabel has a very (and visibly full of pus) hard lump on her earlobe. any idea?
we don’t have a rooster and she never gets bullied, she’s top of the pecking order. i will check it first thing. unfortunately because our hens are getting older there hasn’t been a lot of eggs recently. my parents eat four eggs in a day and we have six hens. the first time i posted here was...

my hen, mabel, has been acting very off this last week. i’ve moved her indoors during the night but allow her to get some sun during the days. she is usually a very vocal chicken but recently she has been very quiet and not laying eggs. she’s a little older than 6, but overall is a healthy...
thank you for the response! she is about 6 years old in months that’s about 72 months. thank you for the correction! still learning about chicken anatomy. i noticed it yesterday, not sure how long it’s been there. i think she’s been laying for around 5 years! appreciate your time!
hi all! so i noticed recently that one of my hens, opal, has a large mass on her wattle. i looked it up and didn’t see anything that matched her specific condition. her wattle appears to be red and healthy, she’s eating and drinking just fine. her energy levels are high and she is acting like a...
thank you for the response. what should i do from now on? would it be best to euthanize her or help the problem? hopefully she is going to see a vet tomorrow but we are not sure if they can fit her in.
