Good call, ChickenFox. After some research on it, I agree. Now I just need to make sure she doesn't starve herself since the eggs are unfertilized....
Anyone know if I should leave her on the eggs or force her off?
I have a Buff Orphington And two other chickens. I only have one nesting box that they all use Inside the coop. Yesterday in the early afternoon the buff went into the nesting box and she hasn't come out yet. She has always avoided contact with people, but isn't aggressive. However, if I reach...
I ended up getting pin-less peepers on most of my chickens. It has helped immensely. They hate the peepers, but as I couldn't find a better way to stop them, they get to keep wearing them!
Five of my six chickens have been treated for mites. The one that hasn't I had hatched myself and has had no treatments medical wise. However, while shes getting pecked a bit, it's nowhere near as bad as one of the other five. Also, I have looked them over to see if I could see anything and I...
I don't have a rooster if it's mine that you're thinking is rooster damage... I have oyster shells in their feed along with crushed egg shells. I am not using light in the coop at all, so all egg laying is done by their natural telling. I'll look into a saddle. Thanks!
First, are you serious about saddles or was that a joke....? O.o
Second, I have one hen (pictures a few replies up) that is just getting worse. I got Rooster Booster - Pick-No-More lotion and she DOES NOT like it at all. The first day she squirmed and made a whole lot of noise as I was...
Hey, I'm having a simmilar issue with one of my hens loosing her feathers, but I'm not sure who or what is doing it. I'm pretty sure she isn't molting just judging how she looks compared to the other hen that is molting, but this is my first year with chickens so I'm not completely sure...
My hen is doing the same thing, only she is losing hers mostly around her neck. She is last to come out of the coop every morning when I let them out, and she seems to just be moving, in general, much slower... Is that just because she's cold from the molting...?
I have clipped their right flight wings to attempt to keep them from being able to control their flight, but it seems that they don't need them to jump up to the fence, or even get over my chicken wire... I am surprised at them every time I see them in the neighbors yard...
Also, I cannot use...
