Thanks everyone for the responses! We will cook them tonight. 1.5 eggs won't feed our family, but we can each get a small bite. Good luck to you. God Bless!
Sorry to hear. They will catch up. We ended up with two roosters, so I wonder if they are stimulating our hens for the early production. Noticed more aggressive behavior these last few days between the roo's and a few hens. Do you have a roo?
Our 14 girls are only 18 weeks old so this is earlier than we thought. Not sure who laid, but one egg is very small, the other is normal. Are they ok to eat?
My husband is still working on the coop, so the nesting boxes aren't even in yet. Ironically, they laid them where the nesting boxes...
We are first time chick owners. They are 6 weeks old now, but at 3 weeks, we got 8 dark brown, 8 tan, and 1 white egg layers. Not sure what breed they are. Also, we think the dark brown with the red comb is a rooster, and our white one is rooster, but we aren't sure. Input appreciated...

Jennygibs, thank you for the pic of your basket. It is very cute, and looks practical. I'd love to find one like it.
I am also very new. We are first time chicken owners and have 17 chicks only 6 weeks old. Like MissMaryMac, I am planning ahead.
Also love the idea of thrift store shopping.
Hello, we are first time chicken owners. 17 egg layers that are 3.5 weeks old. At what age can we supplement store bought medicated feed with kitchen scraps?
Thank you, and blessings!
Hello,
We are happy to finally be chicken owners. Picked up 8 brown hens and 9 cream hens 5 days ago. They are 3.5 weeks old now. My question is do we need a rooster, and if so, when should we get one, how many should we get, and when do we introduce him to our hens? Also, do you think...
