I have only killed two of ours so far. Both were done hung upside down after gently swinging them into a sleepy trance. The first one was a roo of a neighbors that had become a problem attacking people, and they said that we could kill him if we could catch him. Catching him was not a problem...

The product is called Dry Den, and is a pine pellet. It is what our Coastal Farm uses. We actually hatched her on pine shavings, and noticed that she seemed to have a hard time walking on it. So when we bought the chukar we picked some up, and switched to the Dry Den when we got...

Sadly enough we moved Silver out to the hen and her siblings because the chukar was getting depressed due to the occasional pecks and probably lack of other chukars. We did the move late at night and had plans to run to the farm store to get 2 more chukars in the morning, but the...
My chickens will go after the cats at our house, but it is never more than a peck and chase. We have a tendency to be the dumping ground for unwanted cat litters so, at one point there were 3 full grouping of kittens, 17 in all, and the chickens learned that the curious cat is more a problem...
We have her separated from the rest of the flock in the coop. How and when do you let her and her chicks join the flock? We have a resident Barred Rock roo, two more Barred Rock hens, and four EE's The coop is 10'x10' and the hen and chicks have an area of about 2 1/2'x8' with their own food...

The only thing I could say is electrolytes in the water. We were told that when we got our first chicks, but have only done it with the first set and have not noticed any difference between those and the ones we have raised sense.
Congratulations!
So we got the chukar, they bonded at first.
Then Silver, as we have named the chick, got better and started to peck at the chukar, so we put her out tonight under the hen. That went great! So now we are off tomorrow morning to get more chukars.
Here is our new one we are still doing the finish work, and are fencing it this week.
Our inspector, the chickens would check out what we had done constantly.
Daddy's little helper.
This design is from a shed book my wife bought, but it has been altered some. We used solid beams...
Here is our little survivor. We did not put her (Not sure of sex but my wife and I refer to the chick as a her) with the hen and the other chicks last night, as she still was not walking very well and is just now walking short distances. I think she is just going to be a little bit of a late...

I would but we just put 3 speckled sussex, 2 golden laced wyandottes, and 5 silver laced wyandottes 6 week old's out into the smaller coop. We already had 4 2year old EE hens and 1 BR roo and 3 BR hens that are 1 year olds. slowly getting the flock going.
I have to agree they are...

I have been think about that myself as well. We are very excited about this one as it is a cross between our very large BR Roo and our large EE hen and is a very nice silvery grey with what appears to be yellow spot on head chest and wing tips. The other five are all BR chicks. We...
We had our first chicks hatch today to our Barred Rock hen, our first time having a brooder succeed. Being inexperienced with the whole process, we did not separate her from the flock and after two weeks noticed that she was getting pushed off the nest so the other hens could lay. I built a...
