Thank you @Soon2BChixMom @PirateGirl @Wyorp Rock
I didn't get a pic of my hens before my family friend took them to get them back up to par. It broke my heart... I could barely look at them knowing she was coming to rescue them. But this is Howard and his Lady in the background. This was...
Thank you @Soon2BChixMom @PirateGirl @Wyorp Rock you all reminded me of the no goodies, they need nutrition. I got some good food for them, some of the stuff actually for ducks and not just chickens. I refreshed all their water this morning and brought them out. I believe my old man duck...
(I apologize for the long post, I hope I get some good advice though, in a nut shell, what can I feed to starved neglected ducks?)
We fell into a position that I had to re-home or home for a period of time (until we found housing), my pet birds. We abruptly lost our acre and land we lived on...
I have a coop if anyone is interested. It is one of those metal hen houses from D&B. All metal, pretty large and very tall. Like a small tool shed. Full opening door like your house door and such. I ended up not needing it since I got my tuff shed built for them. It's been unpackaged but not...
Thanks so much! I got them and 3 others from that lady. Adorable seramas and polish. I didn't know we even had that page for Idaho! Any other chicken pages for Idaho I am missing out on? :)
Sadly dunlap doesn't sex their bantams and I haven't found anywhere that does.
and @rosyamanda2000 I would certainly love if you could contact me if and when you have any. :) I am sure we could meet up somewhere. Twinfalls isn't too far away from me either. :) When you get them from...
I'm on the look out for some pullet or hen Silkie's. Willing to purchase them. Please keep me in mind if you are wanting to sell any. I can't travel too far but hoping to find some near Boise, Meridian, Kuna, Nampa, ect., area.
We went to the vet. She said permethrin since so many are sick. I ended up losing one. They are biting lice and my birds were awful anemic. Permethrin is the one that gets cats. But she said I'd be fine since my cats are inside.
I have to say!!!!! First dusting NO more lice. I can't find...
So my question that I am concerned with is how often to dust for an infestation? Every 2 weeks like the vet says or I was going to do it once a week. If I do it ever 2 weeks I am afraid I would never get control over the eggs hatching... ya know?
Explanation... but if you want to get to my question it is below, bolded.
My hens got lice. I started with DE and Poultry Protection. Well within two weeks the lice population EXPLODED and I lost a chicken. I had another very ill one so I took her into the vet to see what we could use to nip it...
Thanks everyone...
I called our vet up again who sees chickens and he said to bring one of them in and we can discuss more options since I haven't seen a down fall yet, if not I am seeing more. It's tomorrow, we shall see what we get from there, haha.
I have sever anxiety and panic so the amount I have found on my cross beak sent me through the roof. I only found a couple on one other bird out of my 14. But any is too much for me. I had a huge break down to my vet telling him that these birds are completely my stress relief and my babies yet...
Question...
I have been treating my cross beak girl for lice (and my flock since she has them though I didn't see any on them). She was coated since she can't groom herself. With the help and guidance of our vet and a local no kill chicken rescue in town and such I decided DE was the best...
