Ok got it. I was just out there and I was thinking they may pick around it because all the oyster shell that I’ve mixed in is just laying around. They’re picking it out.
Ok this is what I was thinking. I can get a flock raiser feed at our local store and I was thinking of mixing it with oyster shell and leaving some on the side. She doesn’t seem to like extra calcium so I’m assuming she’ll be the one that won’t eat it
Mostly I was just trying to figure something out. Like if there was an option that wasn’t just layer feed because I’ve never seen anything else? I was thinking of trying the regular feed and then adding the calcium in. Just you know trying different things. See if it helps.
So it’s probsbly a mixture of everything. From stress to to much calcium to being a new layer. That makes sense.
We have 4 2 sex links, a RIR, and her. The rest have zero issues. So she stresses me out. She’s always been our problematic hen. It started in October when she broke her beak. I...
She’s one year old. Started laying in February. I’m praying it’s stress as our Golden Sex Link picks on her often.
They’re fed layer crumbles. Which I just mixed with oyster shells hoping it would help. The vinegar was a last ditch option because I don’t know what probiotic to get to help to...
this EE is going to drive me mad. I’m sure of it. I’ve done everything I can to help her but I guess she’s just screwed up.
Ok so this chicken has everything wrong with her. She lays eggs filled with calcium deposits to soft shelled eggs and now blood on the egg shells. Today being the 2nd one...
So after I posted this I went out and got crushed oyster shells and mixed it in their feed. To ensure she gets it.
As long as she isn’t cooped 24/7 she will lay an egg every single day. Her eggs aren’t thin shelled, id say they’re normal. Sometimes they’re powdery feeling, and have calcium...
So my EE only is laying soft shelled eggs. I have looked her over, she appears to be in good health. The rest of the flock is laying fine....but in the past 2 weeks since we’ve been back from vacation she’s laid 4 soft shelled eggs, and 2 regular eggs. We were only able to collect one egg(as...
I'm assuming she'll figure it out. I just don't want anything to be wrong with her. Given she's my 6 year old's favorite chicken. Ever...it's frustrating. I even thought maybe it was a viral infection but the rest of the flock is fine. All eggs are fine. And her system does get better...
I can't remember why they eat them. I have an egg eater too. And sometimes they start and I don't even notice it! I was getting ready to crack an egg this weekend and saw a small pin hole crack from a beak.
What I do to curb my egg eater. Collect eggs quickly, don't leave them in the box...
I'm not even sure where to begin this post.
Ok so my EE, she's my son's favorite chicken. He LOVES that thing. But, she's our hen with "issues" I just can't understand this chicken. There has to be at least one special one in every flock right?
So when she started laying....she laid a few...
I was just thinking this myself about an hour ago. Because they seem to be more interested in it. This morning they drank from all the cups until they were dry, then I noticed the EE (because she's the biggest bird we have) stretching to drink the water from the top of the bucket. So when I...
So, I made my own watering system with the poultry watering cups. However, my chickens can't figure it out. I'm leaving this weekend and I don't want to leave them without water, because they have it, but they won't use the new system.
Do you think they'll eventually get it? Right now...
