6 from 9 on Sunday. First time we got more than 4 in one day!
3 yesterday.
Don't know yet for today. It's only 9:30 here and my girls lay late in the day for some reason.
That's good to hear. There was more hay in there, but they pulled a lot of it into the coop and pooped in it so I can't put it back. Maybe I'll get a bag of shavings and try that underneath what's left of the hay.
Just found a cracked egg in the nesting box. Does this look like it was pecked? Or maybe just cracked on the wood? I have hay in there for them, but they always push it out of the way and lay directly on the bare wood.
Here's the odd little story leading up to the find, probably not a...
One oddly shaped mint green egg here today. My BR were all squatting for me today so I'm really expecting some brown eggs any day now. I switched them back to Purina today after going through a bag of Nutrena. Who knows, maybe that will make a difference.
I'm not sure to be honest with you. These are the first chickens I've had since my family owned them when I was a kid. How old are your Rocks? My one has had a really red face for awhile now and such a big comb that my husband is convinced it's a rooster. lol. Still nothing though.
I'm in the same boat here. I got two green eggs early last week and none since. Another started laying in the meantime, but that's only 2(ish) out of 9 chickens! The EEs are 22 weeks now and the BR are 20. I swear I'm like a chicken stalker. I probably go checks for eggs 4 or 5 times a day!
Oops, I meant to post here, but I posted in the other thread. Just wanted to add that my EE with the slate legs started laying yesterday and her eggs aren't blue. They're a muted blue-green, but definitely not that pretty blue I was hoping for.
We got our first egg from our EE with the slate legs. Unfortunately, it wasn't blue as I had hoped. It's not quite as green as the other eggs though, so at least there's a little variety. That's two down and four to go. I'm excited to see what the other colors will be.
I have EEs and barred rocks, so these are obviously from one of the EEs. Not sure which one though. One of them has bluish (is that a word?) legs like an ameraucana, so hopefully we'll get some blue eggs from her. Blue, green, and brown would be a wonderful mix!
I'm thinking they were...
I posted in the egg countdown thread, but I guess I should have posted here. Oops. These are from our EEs. I hadn't been keeping very close track, but I counted today and they are 21 weeks old. I just switched them to a layer food this weekend as well.
We got our first eggs! I hadn't checked for a few days, so I don't know if it's two eggs from one chicken or one egg from two different ones. The one egg has brown speckles while the other is solid green. Does that mean they're from different hens? Here's a pic:
