How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

6 from 9 on Sunday. First time we got more than 4 in one day! 3 yesterday. Don't know yet for today. It's only 9:30 here and my girls lay late in the day for some reason.

Thanks everybody! I'm so excited about the blue egg. I was really hoping to get one.

    First Egg Countdown

We got four eggs for the first time today, which means we're up to four or five of our nine laying. Here's the color assortment we got today:

Oh no! Is this from a beak?

That's good to hear. There was more hay in there, but they pulled a lot of it into the coop and pooped in it so I can't put it back. Maybe I'll get a bag of shavings and try that underneath what's left of the hay.

Oh no! Is this from a beak?

Just found a cracked egg in the nesting box. Does this look like it was pecked? Or maybe just cracked on the wood? I have hay in there for them, but they always push it out of the way and lay directly on the bare wood. Here's the odd little story leading up to the find, probably not a...

Congrats! That's a very pretty blue. I really hope I can get one like that from mine!

    First Egg Countdown

One oddly shaped mint green egg here today. My BR were all squatting for me today so I'm really expecting some brown eggs any day now. I switched them back to Purina today after going through a bag of Nutrena. Who knows, maybe that will make a difference.

    First Egg Countdown

I'm not sure to be honest with you. These are the first chickens I've had since my family owned them when I was a kid. How old are your Rocks? My one has had a really red face for awhile now and such a big comb that my husband is convinced it's a rooster. lol. Still nothing though.

    First Egg Countdown

I'm in the same boat here. I got two green eggs early last week and none since. Another started laying in the meantime, but that's only 2(ish) out of 9 chickens! The EEs are 22 weeks now and the BR are 20. I swear I'm like a chicken stalker. I probably go checks for eggs 4 or 5 times a day!

    First Egg Countdown

Oops, I meant to post here, but I posted in the other thread. Just wanted to add that my EE with the slate legs started laying yesterday and her eggs aren't blue. They're a muted blue-green, but definitely not that pretty blue I was hoping for.

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

We got our first egg from our EE with the slate legs. Unfortunately, it wasn't blue as I had hoped. It's not quite as green as the other eggs though, so at least there's a little variety. That's two down and four to go. I'm excited to see what the other colors will be.

    First Egg Countdown

I have EEs and barred rocks, so these are obviously from one of the EEs. Not sure which one though. One of them has bluish (is that a word?) legs like an ameraucana, so hopefully we'll get some blue eggs from her. Blue, green, and brown would be a wonderful mix! I'm thinking they were...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

I posted in the egg countdown thread, but I guess I should have posted here. Oops. These are from our EEs. I hadn't been keeping very close track, but I counted today and they are 21 weeks old. I just switched them to a layer food this weekend as well.

    First Egg Countdown

We got our first eggs! I hadn't checked for a few days, so I don't know if it's two eggs from one chicken or one egg from two different ones. The one egg has brown speckles while the other is solid green. Does that mean they're from different hens? Here's a pic:

What chicken breed should I get?

I know that Easter Eggers and Ameracaunas are not the same. What I said was that feed stores and hatcheries will sell Easter Eggers AS Ameracaunas.

Help sexing my BR and EE chicks

Wow, thanks a lot. I like the whole "quilt" visual, it really helps. I guess I have some tough decisions to make soon.

Help sexing my BR and EE chicks

That's quite a little comb he's got there! My BR I thought was a roo does have a bigger comb than the other two. Are they at an age where even the pullets will start developing bigger combs? Here's another picture of one of my EEs. It's the one standing in the middle of the three in the first...

Help sexing my BR and EE chicks

Seriously? That seems too good to be true. Actually, that means I'm going to have to pick which ones I want to keep which is going to be difficult. Our coop isn't really big enough for more than 6 or so. Should I wait a little longer before choosing just to be sure?

Help sexing my BR and EE chicks

I really need some help sexing my chicks. I'm fairly confident with my BRs, but I have no idea on the EEs. First up are the BRs. I'm pretty sure I have two pullets and one roo. I think they're about 7 weeks old right now if that helps. Suspected pullet #1: Suspected pullet #2: Suspected...
