So we kinda think she may have sour crop.. we are going to try and empty the crop tonight but was just wondering if we should feed her or hold off? I mean this has been kinda going on since Saturday and we would force feed her some yogurt every now and then. She drinks willingly. They say not to...
Yeah, I have her in another shed to hopefully lay low and get better. I did get her to eat a little yogurt and I brought some scrambled eggs out with some crushed tums mixed in. She got kinda excited and had a few bites. But hasn’t seemed to touch it since. It’s getting dark and she’s sitting...
She’s about a 1.5 years of age. And two nights I went out to shut them in for the night and she just happen to spit an egg out, however it didn’t have a shell. I didn’t think a whole of it at the moment. But now it’s been a couple days and she’s just kinda moving around not really feeding on...
Hey everyone I have a hen that’s under the weather. She will move with the other hens but them just stand around. Hasn’t eaten, and will only drink. She keeps having white runny poops. Any ideas?
Nothings changed. I’ve kept an eye on her throughout the day today. She still kinda minds her own business but has still been eating and up and about. Certainly not any worse. Maybe she’s just an outcast? I’m not sure but, she seems to be doing well.
Her crop seems to feel empty from what I could tell. She wouldn’t let me pick her up, I tried a couple times but I didn’t wanna disrupt everyone in there. I might need to bring her in the garage but nervous it will be too hard to put her back in the coop ☹️
She’s only about 8 months old. They are all from the same flock. If nothing changes by tomorrow we may try and bring her in the garage which remains pretty cool. I just don’t want to throw off her immune to the cold and put her back outside, I hear that’s bad for them. But I think it will be...
One of my chickens I have noticed the last couple days seems to fluff up and kinda just hang out and not as busy as the rest. She’s always kinda looked big and fluffy we do call her “big red”. She did eat yesterday afternoon when I got home, she continues to roost with the rest and everything...
Although I may just try drilling a bunch holes in that stretch of eaves for a quick fix and see how that does. I have 30 min of daylight when I get home during the week. If it doesn’t improve then I’ll have to try something different over the weekend.
so a couple questions. I have 8 good sized hens in a 8x4 coop that’s 4 ft tall. I notice in the morning a little frost on the ceiling. I’d like to think it’s vented well enough. One 4”x12” vent in the front and another on one side, I thought that would be enough. It’s not like there’s water...
UPDATE: she didn’t make it. Left the house around 10 and just got home. Tried to give her a little water with aspirin when we left and came home she passed. Thanks everyone for the advice. Hopefully it won’t happen again. Merry Christmas everyone.
