Just went to store and bought this.Curious and need help with chicken math.I have eighteen chickens and three ducks. It says 1600 chickens 4-6 weeks, now I need help figuring how much I should put in the two gallon waterers.Only seems to be info for young chicks. No direct direction for other ages...

Mixed Flock Information (What Can You Keep Together?)

It’s very rare to have a drake kill hens.If you have enough duck hens to keep the drake satisfied, all should be fine.I have kept at the most ten or more drakes with my hens (Never ten at once and they all had girls)and never have they ever had an issue with them breeding my hens or trying to...

    Attitude!

All drakes can be a problem. They tend to arguelike brothers.Did you just introduce the rescued duck? It’s spring so expect the acting up and awful attitudes, you will probably even witness them humping one and another to show dominance or even try to mate.

    Adding another chick?

Agree with her. And his hormones may not be as wild as most cockerels are.My three year old New Hampshire still chases and pesters our hens,BUT he has a calm demeanor around kids and is a great care taker so the hens just kinda have to suffer through the spring. His sons were just like him.

    Adding another chick?

Sounds like a rooster.Larger size, but late feathering definitely sounds like a boy,but we will wait and see. As far as him over mating the girls, probably going to happen.A rooster of large breeds or regular sized needs atleast seven girls, would hurt to add an extra four?

    Gender Ratios Plus Docile Roosters

Rooster to hen ratio should be one to ten hens, but doesn’t need to be exact.Yoi don’t need a rooster but their a great addition to have to a flock and are interesting to watch. When raised correctly you can have a rooster as pet or just a rooster that is laid back.I own a New Hampshire rooster...
