Coyotes do live and hunt in packs and the best way to get rid of them is with a shotgun. I have heard the yipping when they get a kill and saw one dragging a fawn across my yard one night. I am sorry for your loss but the best advice is to keep your critters locked up from dusk to dawn.
I found a way to protect my 3 hens from winter wind and snow by adding clear shower liners to their run. Works great and hens can still see what's happening all around them.
My 18 week old Australorp (Serena) laid her first eggs today but there was no shell on either egg. Feeding Purina Plus Oyster Strong plus hard boiled eggs and mealworms, free ranged daily. I feel so bad for her as her 2 coopmates seemed to stay by her side all day. Is this normal for first eggs?
