My geese are eating their own eggs. This started about 2 weeks ago and 2 of the nest are empty now. I think it's the younger ones eating them because the older geese started setting on their nest yesterday and today. I'll put out some oyster shell in the morning. I usually put it out when the...
I didn't mist. I just put the eggs under her and let her do her thing.
This is the first 2 ducklings that my chicken hatch. She went on to hatch 2 more.
This is her with the 4.
I have a buff op. chicken that I couldn't keep off the nest so I put 6 duck eggs under her (about a month ago) and she has hatch 4 of them so far. I felt bad for her because she wanted some babies so bad. She is caring for them really good to.
I have pekin, runners, harlequins, black swedish and blue swedish. The swedish and harlequins are my best layers with large eggs. Runners are good layers with a large egg also. Pekin lays a large egg when she lays which isn't often.
I have 11 runners,4 harlequins, 2 black and 2 blue swedish laying. I dread going out every morning to feed and water because of all the eggs. I am feeding a lot of the eggs back to them.
Mine started laying at 5 months. That was last year around the first of sept. and haven't stopped yet. I get around a dozen or more every day. I sell some and throw some back for them to eat. I'm so sick of duck eggs. I can't even give them away.
A .22 got rid of a fox that was stalking my ducks and chickens at 8:30 in the morning. We were out feeding and watering when she came around. Hubby had seen her twice before so he was watching and when he saw her he went and got his gun. Bye bye fox.
Well I sold 8 goose eggs today for $7.00 each. I put some pekin eggs in her nest so she will keep using it. I'll take them out when (if) she lays more eggs.
That's Mikey my pilgrim gander. I got a pair from Metzer last year and the female died about a week later. I tried to replace her because I wanted to raise pilgrims. I couldn't find one anywhere so I decide to go with toulouse. I'm not sorry because my toulouse are so gentle.
