This is where my Javas came from. They are BIG beautiful Javas. The roosers are a little more aggressive than I would like, but I guess they're guarding their hens.
Thank you! I don't care if the percentage isn't high - but if it's completely pointless, that's different.
I'll go on gathering then, and see what happens.
It's freezing here at night. I know the eggs can't freeze and we are checking for them several times a day, but how cold can fertile eggs get and still be viable?
I am using a digital reptile thermometer. It's got a probe that I put in through one of the vent holes and the readout is large enough that I can see it without my glasses.
I had a wonderful experience with them last year. I ordered 25 Buff Orpingtons, they sent 28. I also ordered 5 Bantams, and they sent 6, plus the one mystery chick.
The Orpingtons were an exact split: 14 roos and 14 hens. Whatever are the chances of that happening again...... *L*
But all...
I was feeding crumbles and going through a TON of food. Switched to pellets and they eat MUCH less.... plus, the pellets that they dump on the ground are big enough for them to find and eat. The crumbles just became one with the dirt.
I am VERY please with the order I recieved from McMurray. I ordered 25 Buff Orps and 5 Partridge Cochin Bantams, all straight run. My rare bird is a black Japanese bantam HEN. She is very cute.
I recieved them around the first of April and they should start laying soon.
