    Bloody poop and swollen feet

Yea we put her down, she wasn’t walking much anymore her legs were so swollen:/ This was a lesson learned on my part. I had assumed she was laying so I know now to separate a hen that isn’t laying yet so she’s not eating the same food as the layers.

    Bloody poop and swollen feet

Yea I have Corid but the swollen feet is what baffling me. They seem to be getting worse now that she won’t move. I’m having to clean her bottom in warm water cause she’ll just lay in the same spot all night and then the next day she hasn’t moved at all and there’s so much poop behind her...

    Bloody poop and swollen feet

Hen has been limp the past weeks I’ve tried isolating her giving her Tart cherry and low protein/calcium chick feed since she’s not a layer and maybe she has gout? But she’s not improving at all. And now I’m noticing blood in her poop. They can’t be related can they? Can’t afford to take her to...

    What is this??

This is the second time I’m posting on about my hen Pickles. I’m desperate for help since I can’t take her to the vet. She has a swollen right foot and no it’s not bumble foot. At first I thought it might be Gout but wouldn’t both legs be equally swollen? I’m so confused 😕 and there’s almost no...

    Possible Gout

Hi did you ever find out what was wrong with your hen? I’m dealing with the same thing on a 7 month old hen. No injuries or bumble foot on her feet. She was eating layer feed which I should have not allowed because she wasn’t laying yet so she’s isolated on a chick feed and I’m trying the tart...

My hen is 7 months old as well and it dealing with the exact same thing. I switched her to a layer feed too early and I think it caused the gout. I thought she was laying like the flock she was raised with but she’s a late layer. Noticed her legs and feet were swollen with no injury’s or bumble...

    Hen has swollen feet??

I’m starting to think so too! Wonder is the feed was too much for her because she’s not laying yet so the protien isn’t good for her yet. Starting to think it’s gout too! Makes sense I don’t think she laying yet so she’s been eating the high protein chicken food this is totally on me! I’ll...

    Hen has swollen feet??

Howdy so one of my young hens has swollen feet I noticed. I checked both feet very well for bumble foot or any wounds and nothing. I know in the pictures there’s a dark spot on her toe but it’s just dirt. I’m stumped at what’s causing this. She does seem to be lifting the right foot up more when...

    Gene Combo?

I have a Welsummer Rooster and an Olive Egger. Just out of curiosity if they made some chicks what color genes would they inherit? Moon lays a deep green colored egg (picture below) And Welsummers have the brown speckled egg gene if I’m not mistaken. Wonder what colors their offspring hens would...

    Appreciation Post for Tank

Just wanted to give a shout out to my rooster Tank for being such a great protector of the little ladies. Today he gathered them all to hide from a big hawk that was perched by the coop. He keeps a watch on the sky’s 24/7. Hawks are our biggest predator here in rural Michigan. Tank isn’t even a...

    Hen disappeared…💔

So last night I did a head count on the girls and one of my olive eggers was missing. I looked everywhere with a flash light. I thought for sure she got taken by a hawk or raccoon there was no feathers or blood anywhere. Unfortunately our neighbor txted my husband the morning saying they saw a...

How to get rid of mites successfully

First timer dealing with what I believe are mites. Been seeing them on the shavings in the chicken run and crawling up stuff so I’m guessing the chickens have them too. What did you guys find as the most successful and effective treatment for the flock? So far I have removed all the shavings...
