I have a 1.5 year old Easter egger who is eating and active, but sounds wheezy today. I was able to look in her mouth and didn’t see any discharge or anything unusual, but also didn’t want to stress her out too much. Most of my flock hasn’t been laying much all winter, and I don’t think she has...
I have a similar run, but it has a pitched roof instead of the arch. I ran hardware cloth horizontally so ended up with a seam partway down the roof. I put 1x2s between the hardware cloth and the frame where the 2 pieces of hardware cloth overlapped, and used steel cable ties to attach both...
She’s totally back to normal. I recently read that morning glory seeds can cause neurologic symptoms, and there is morning glory all over my yard. So not sure if it was truly a deficiency or if it was the morning glory, but she’s doing great! I’m trying to get rid of the morning glory but it has...
This must have been a vitamin e deficiency, because she’s almost 100% normal this morning! She even laid an egg and is preening. I’ll probably put her back out with the flock later today. I may add some Poultry Cell to their water to try to make sure no one else is affected.
After just a dose of poultry cell this morning, she seems a bit better? I had to leave the house for a bit and picked up supplements while I was out. Came home and she ate some and is trying to get around. Thank you to everyone who gave advice!
Good to know. I thought I had read they could have some, and I have chinchillas so I gave the chickens some of their hay. I’ll avoid that in the future!
Thanks! Also meant to add- no new birds recently. I did give them some hay recently which she has not had before, maybe she’s been filling up on that and not eating their regular feed? Keeping my fingers crossed!
The weather has actually cooled off the last few days, but it was hot and humid earlier this week. How likely would a vitamin deficiency be given her diet? She’s part of a backyard flock with no access to petroleum products that I know of. I was worried about Marek’s but most of what I read said...
I have a 1.5 year old black Australorp hen who came out of the coop wobbly this morning. Last night when I closed the coop, I heard someone fall and found her on the ground. I assumed someone knocked her down while jockeying for a spot, and it was dark, so I just put her on a roost and closed...
I have four Ayam Cemani mix roosters available in Northwest Illinois. They are almost 14 weeks old. Two are from Easter egger hens, the other two are either black Australorp or Ayam Cemani. I suspect the smallest is pure Ayam Cemani but can’t make any guarantees.
