I had 10 bantam eggs in an LG still-air incubator.
Lock down was scheduled for late in the afternoon on 4-15-11.
When I got home from work on 4-15-11 our power was out and the temp in the incubator was 73 degrees. No idea how long the power had been out, but it had been out long enough for the...
I"m currently trying to decide between buying the ECO 20 or the Genesis 1588.
If you decide to sell the Brinsea, please let me know a price. Maybe we can work something out.
I have an LG turner that I used in a homemade incubator.
I am going to buy an incubator and was wondering if my turner will fit in a Hovabator (I guess the 1588).
I may just go ahead and buy the Brinsea Oct 20 ECO. How would you guys compare the Brinsea to the 1588?
Thanks.
I'm a complete hatching noobie, but I don't think I would even try to candle the eggs at 5 days.
I look at it like you are just increasing the chances of bad (dropping an egg, issues with temp & humidity, introducing bacteria, etc....) things happening each time you candle.
I am only on my...
I am the farthest thing from a hatching expert, but it sounds like something went terribly wrong with your hatch.
I would GUESS that you can unplug the incubator.
You might want to open up a few of the eggs and see what you find. You may, depending on the development of the chicks in the eggs...
I used this as my heat source and thermostat. Had a friend solder it together. It allows you to add a computer fan (which only runs when the unit is heating).

Seems to work OK. It is holding an air temp range of around 98 - 102 in my homemade...
I used a homemade incubator. I got a styrofoam shipping box from my local Health Department. The box was used to ship vaccines. It is 2" thick all the way around. I used this, http://www.mtmscientific.com/incubator.htm, as my heat source/thermostat. I attached an old compupter fan to the...
I'm a hatching noobie (my first hatch should start around the 13th) but I'll tell you what I did to candle.
I bought a rechargeable spotlight at Lowes. It only cost $9.99 and is rated as 500 lumens. I charged it up, turned it on, and put it back in it's box. I had already cut an egg sized &...
The temperature in my homemade incubator ranges from 98 to 102. Will this be good enough to give me a chance at a good hatch?
I do have a fan in the bator, but it only turns on when the unit is heating.
Assuming I can maintain that 4 degree difference, is the 98 - 102 good enough, or should I...
I pretty much have everything worked out except my thermostat.
I'm trying to decide between two options:
1) The MTM Scientific heater & thermostat http://www.mtmscientific.com/incubator.html
This unit would provide a heat source and a thermostat. It would also allow me to directly connect...
Hate to hear about your losses.
I'm in Gate City (just across the state line from you). We only got about 6" of snow. Of course that is more than my kids have ever seen.
Hang in there.
