    Chicken died suddenly

Hi everybody, I have 7 hens. All appear very healthy and happy. I went out to the coop yesterday morning around 7am and one was in the run dead. She must have just died because she was still warm and limp. I dont think I was out at the coop the previous day so maybe the last time I was out...

    Easter Egger loosing neck feathers

No rooster. Will you actually SEE the mites? Around her neck area? I will go take a good look? If that is it how do you get rid of them? Should I treat all the birds? Thanks for your help.

    Easter Egger loosing neck feathers

Im in CT. There are 6 birds in the coop. None seam to be picking on her. They all molted in December I think. I don't notice her scratching at herself but she could be. Any advice would be great. Thx.

Were is best to install solar light....run or hen house?

HELLO ALL, I bought a solar panel and light to provide a couple extra hours of light a day to get my 7 hens laying a little more than what they currently are. Im getting about 2 eggs a week TOTAL compared to 6 a day. I want them to get a break but a couple eggs a day would be nice. My question...

Why is this Egger loosing her throat feathers?

Hi everybody, She is one of 7 pullets in our coop. They are all about 26 weeks old and are all laying. They all seam to be getting along nicely. I dont see any real aggression especially towards this bird. She and the other Easter Egger have been the last hens to feel comfortable around people...

Anybody know what breed this is????....

It looks just like a Blue Cochin (bantam maybe?) EXCEPT it has that tuff of feathers on the top of its head. I don't know how old she is. It was sold to me as "a Silke, less than a year old". She is small. Much smaller than the rest odf the hens I bought. Thanks for any help. Josh

Hi folk. I'm new. And just started my first coop.

Hi, We are building a coop with a 7.5' x 12' footprint. The hen house is 7.5' x 4'. The run is 7.5' x 8' and actually extends under the hen house so its true dimension is the full 7.5' x 12'. I'm framing everything out without having purchased the welded wire mesh yet. We live in a very wooded...
