    I have (6) 10 month old hens. 5 of the 6 of them are going through their first molt. Our delaware's feathers are coming in a different color. There is a brown spot that looks like blood...those are brown feathers! Is this normal?

    I just bought this heat lamp. Have it hanging from the ceiling by a chain and it's clipped on chain. Safe and provides a spot the chickens can go under to warm up a bit. Mine are molting right now and half bare. it's 20 degrees here today and even though they may not "need" heat, it helps me...

    Noticed my welsummer limping yesterday. It seems to hurt her to put weight on it. I washed it off, and can find no black spot or any sign of injury. Her bottom pad on the injured foot is slightly swollen. Her injured foot/leg has lost all it's pink coloring and is green in areas. Bumble...

    I went out and inspected her again when she was on her roost. Her foot was wrapped around the roost, so yes, she can bend her toes. Her middle round pad on the bottom of her foot seemed to be the most sore, and the sore spot was bigger than the other foot. I washed her foot off with a warm...
