    Dying ducks

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that since they are always loose and exposed.

    Dying ducks

Thanks. I have checked the feed. They run free on a part of the farm and nothing has changed. They have access to shade and a large pond. I am clueless.

    Dying ducks

I have had 2 2-year-old runner ducks die in the last week. The first one appeared to not be able to walk, then could, then couldn't. Both showed signs first thing in the morning and died within a couple of hours. Their feed smells and appears fine, no injuries or clear sign of illness. It's...

    Wild birds raid feed

Gotcha! I have those on my chicken coop and they do seem to limit the numbers. On that coop, the doors are wood and simply slide up and out to open and down at night. My duck's door is open weave screen so it will be a trick to do this but you are probably right. It is the best way. Thanks!

    Wild birds raid feed

Sorry, just what do you call a "Pop" door?

    Wild birds raid feed

I would welcome any ideas to rid my duck hut of raiding wild birds. My hut has a full size "person" door that is open all day so my ducks can come and go. This allows my ducks shelter and easy access to their feed. The problem is it also allows the same for wild birds. They are eating all the...

    Bumble foot?

I am going to try the Epsom salt compresses for a few days. I did order some Monistat cream also. Somewhere I read Blu-cote may help if it is fungal. Has anyone heard or tried it on a duck? Our local vets aren't too involved with poultry so I am on my own......

    Bumble foot?

Okay, I will try this. She lets me hold her pretty well so I should be able to. How often do you recommend I do this? And, is this considered a treatment specifically for fungus or just generally good for sores?

    Bumble foot?

This is a runner duck. The lump has not gotten any smaller. The toe to the tip was all swollen a little and that may be a bit smaller. How do I do the compresses. I will try almost anything!

    Bumble foot?

I have been treating a duck ith a foot sore for several days and I still am not sure what it is. There was a black scab topping a large swelling on top of her foot. She limped and hopped badly. So, several people on here said to treat it as bumblefoot. I applied triple antibiotic cream several...

Swollen, scabbed sore on runner duck's foot

Thanks. I have been applying ointment but I think it will need the surgery. I will look for that thread.

Swollen, scabbed sore on runner duck's foot

I see the pictures of this surgery and my question is: how to wrap a duck's webbed foot? The chicken has the toes to hold the wrap in place. Secondly, applying the ointment only, I guess it wouldn't need wrapped since the sore is on top and I can keep the duck from swimming for several days.

Swollen, scabbed sore on runner duck's foot

Okay, I see what to do but a final question: The scab is on the top of the foot. Still bumblefoot?

Swollen, scabbed sore on runner duck's foot

My runner duck has a swollen, dry, scabbed sore on her foot on one of her "toes." She limps because of it and, if I let her run all day, can only hop about. I have her confined to give it a rest but does anyone have advice to help it heal? What can or should I do?
