Hurt very badly by dog attack please help!!!

You'd be surprised at the beatung they can take and recover from. I had a duck get mauled and a chickeb, too, by my dogs. Both survived with some tlc. I cleaned the wounds and kept them clean. They healed on their own.

TSC chicks keep dying despite ideal conditions

They could have been delayed in shipping. We had some several years ago that died right off. A staff memeber told us the chicks had been stuck at the post office extra day or two by accident and they had a lot die.

    Australorps and Red Leghorns

I'm excited because my husband just bought me some new chicks. This is the first time I have had chickens in 4 years. I did have light brahmas before. Now I have australorps and red leghorns. He also bought a pekin chick and a blue roen chick. I've been looking at my Australorps and see some...

    The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

My husband decided to surprise me with 6 ducklings today. We got them from Tractor Supply and I looked up the colors - Khaki Campbell! They're adorable and pretty chatty. Our older Pekin needed some duck friends, she's been living with the chickens since her "sister" was killed by a dog that got...

Injured Chick- crushed by dog bite

Actually, she's fine this morning. Turned out to be a puncture wound that closed overnight. It is right below the vent, but she's not in distress this morning. Unless you count when I won't let her run around.

    Backyard Brahmas!!

That's a cockerel for sure going by the middle pic- if that's the natural stance. The top and bottom pics are more pullet-ish, but I had a cockerel last year behave similar to the pullets. Stance and all, even his comb was slow to come in when he reached adulthood.

Injured Chick- crushed by dog bite

My German Shepherd quickly bit my 2 1/2 week chick. I didn't know this happened until when checking on it for bedtime I saw blood on its vent. My 4 year old had accidentally let the dog get to the chick, then didn't tell me. So now- not a lot of blood what is there is watery, but the vent looks...

    Black Copper Marans

7 of 9 were not viable. One died in the shell- not shrink wrapped. The other died overnight half out of the shell. I'm pretty bummed.

    Backyard Brahmas!!

It's been a while since I posted. My light brahmas are almost a year old now. While they aren't perfect- which I don't care Nout perfection because these first birds are eggers only- they're perfect for us. That said, I do have some black copper marans that are from a show quality line. It's...

    Black Copper Marans

I've been reading and reading all about hatching out BCMs. This is my first BCM hatch, ever. First incubate and hatch in over 15 years, actually. So I'm on day 21, because I'm not counting the day I put them in as a full day. It was afternoon. There are 9 BCMs and 4 Pekin eggs. The Pekins are...

Injured Pekin Leg - Upper Joint

Update- dissolved baby aspirin in a bit of water, added 1 ml of amoxicillin, then squirted it down my girls gullet. Neither of us enjoyed it, but late this afternoon she was way out in the field with everyone else! Had been just chilling on the hill, watching the rest wander around and making...

Injured Pekin Leg - Upper Joint

No, I get it. I'm shocked at the number of people I come across keeping their flock in tiny, stuffy houses and giving them just corn. I free range to avoid any nutritional deficits and keep my guys/gals organic if possible. Thank you for the advice, I might try amoxicillin for a week to be safe.
