Well, looks like you guys are doing awesome! Just put 43 chicks on lo kdown here and am looking forward to my best hatch ever! (8 is my best so far...). Cant wait for Sunday!
Also have 5 duck eggs and 2 goose eggs as well, but they are a little behind the chickens so I hope the humidity...
Awesome work there with the candeling video. I think I need to use a brighter flashlight since I have mostly brown shelled eggs, and only a little LED light... Mine are looking good too though in spite of my inadequacies. Have 48 chicken eggs that are coming along nicely as well as 4 duck and...
Well, the candeling looks good... only sampled about 1/2 of them but there was only one obvious one that I had to get rid of. Could see some really good movement on one of them as well, which I hadn't seen before. Was very cool! How is everybody else's eggs doing?
Glad to see everybody did so well... Sorry for those of you that lost some.... I lost some too, and haven't figured out what I am doing wrong there either... I ended up hatching 3 New Hampshires, and 5 Black stars, but ended up losing one of the NH and 2 of the black stars. The last one was...
Well, haven't posted in a while because I was pretty sure I had killed all of mine. Had made some modifications to my home-made incubator, doubling the capacity from 30 to 60, thought I had the temperature almost stabilized and went to bed. The next morning the temp was 107.8, so I was afraid...
Just put a batch in tonight. This is my 4th attempt... (Hatched 8 out of 24 on my last attempt, but sadly lost three of them last night/this morning). Made several modifications to my home-made incubator though... Added two more trays which increases my capacity from 30 to 60. Also, moved...
Now I am just waiting and hoping the other 9 eggs will hatch, and trying to decide whether to build a cabinet incubator, or try to squeze in two more racks into my current Igloo Cooler incubator... wouldn't mind having a second one so I can have two going at once, or at least have then...
Well, better late than never... woke up to 1 NH chick this morning and as of now we are up 5 total, 3 NH and @ black star roos... best part though, is my 5 year old twin boys being glued to the bator... priceless!
Little trick I just tried... I put paper towel down on my wire rack, and sprayed it down a little. As the condensation from the top of the incubator drips down it re-moistens the paper towel and has my humidity running at 82%, up from 72%. For whatever thats worth... Good Luck!
Well, final candeling is complete, temperature at 99.8 degrees and 82% humidity. We are now on lockdown! Heard one chirping faintly as we spread the eggs out on the hatching shelf of the incubator. Hoping they will fare better this time! 14 eggs left, but they all look good. Could see a...
Hmm... sounds very interesting, I am all about the easy button. Let me know how it works! My current one is in an old coleman cooler as well, think I just about have the kinks worked out, but I guess we will see how it goes. Let me know how yours works, will look for your pics on here!
