setting eggs tomorrow.... 3-21-12 who wants to join?

so i opened the other eggs, two full termers, one had a hernia around its belly button. so I'm kinda glad it didn't hatch. My blue Cochin, was term and never pipped. sad

the other and last egg was rotten as all heck... LOL don't know how that one slipped by me, but hey, I'm new at this so...

Don't feel bad. I'm new as well. When I get home, I will crack open the unhatched eggs to see what happened to mine as well. This was only my 2nd time hatching. I will practice on guinea eggs this weekend. It's a work in progress. I have always had broody hens, so I never had to use an incubator any eggs. But I wanted to step into 2012 and get on board like most people and incubate, so I did.

Just keep practicing. It'll get better. Well, at least that's what I keep telling myself. :/

Well, better late than never... woke up to 1 NH chick this morning and as of now we are up 5 total, 3 NH and @ black star roos... best part though, is my 5 year old twin boys being glued to the bator... priceless!

Now I am just waiting and hoping the other 9 eggs will hatch, and trying to decide whether to build a cabinet incubator, or try to squeze in two more racks into my current Igloo Cooler incubator... wouldn't mind having a second one so I can have two going at once, or at least have then staggered a bit.

We made it to lockdown with 4 silkies out of 7. 3 were clears. We have had three hatch! The fourth pipped about 4 am but has done nothing since. Sitting on my hands -trying not to jump the gun and intervene.

We are so excited. This is our first hatch in the incubator!

Be patient, mine were overdue as well, but have 5 out, and 2 more actively pipping... Good luck!!

I have my webcam on my chicks if you all are interested in watching them.

My last one doesn't seem quite "right". It's kind of squinty eyed and seems a little wrong.

hello every one......dirtycreature, you started this thread and i imediately jumped on the wagon being 2nd post of the thread, been together on this ride along with all folks we met here and more than likely all of us are with you at this time you are passing thru about your hatch

......dont give up......this were shipped eggs if i remember correctly......shipped eggs go thru a lot of hassle in transit and most of the times we have a great loss ( i ended with 16 chicks out of 50 eggs shipped a couple of hatches ago of my jersey/sex link)......anyways....im ready to join u in another ride just say the day......rye, mammat,kuntrygirl, and bookerdog.......CONGRATS!!!.....

i wont have any other hatches until a couple of weeks..............here is my standing on my fridgebator and mini styrofoam bator #5 i built...


i forgot to say that im kinda sleepy so i'll jus paste this from my 200 egg thread.....

1. today starts day 9 on the remaining 94 out of 150 eggs i started with

2. today starts day 6 on the remaining 43 out of 50 eggs i added

3. and finally today starts day 2 on additional 60 eggs i added to replace the 56 eggs i tossed away

ahhh.....and i forgot to tell you folk, IM STILL MARRIED!!!!!...........got a lovely wife that bears all my malicious deeds.....muahahahhaha.....

yea, I know. I have 14 eggs due on the 19th.... im excited about that, and after that batch, i dont have any plans for more batches... so far.... we will see... hahahaha.

I set some on March 31st so Im right there with you. I have some Heritage RIR, cuckoo Marans, Light sussex and some Delewares. Alos with Shipped eggs. I have had as good as 70% hatch rate and as poor as 5% hatch rate. Alot of it depends on the way it was handled coming to you. I hope these turn out great for you.
