    I was told that #1-4 are ameracaunas...but I can't be 100% sure of that. I am learning that where I got them isn't and overly reliable source.

    Well none of this is great news, because with only one being a pullet, to add to my existing 8 girls, I'd say only one roo can stay. 2 of them have particularly stolen my heart. Sigh.

    This is my first time raising chicks, and I was wondering if it is possible to tell their sexes yet? (Any input on their breeds is totally welcomed too :) #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 I'm assuming #7 is a rooster, because I"m pretty sure I heard him crow today

    It isn't moldy. It's the entire barley plant chopped, and stored at high moisture so that it ferments, not molds. We wouldn't feed our cattle moldy feed either :)

    Our family has got out of cattle recently, and we have tons (literally) of barley silage left in our yard. What are your thoughts on feeding barley silage to chicks, hens, and/or broilers? Could it be used as a primary feed? Or even as a supplement?

    Eggcessive, I'm sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to thank you for your post. I quarantined this chick and fed it electrolytes, by the next morning it was cheeping and trying to jump out of its box to be with his friends. It did a complete turn around, and shocked us all.
