Hi all, trying to get some insight on what to do from here. We have a hen who is about 2 1/2 years old and has always been super sweet and gets along with all her coop-mates. About a week ago she stopped roosting and was sleeping on the ground which caused us to examine her. We found two old...
I have a handful of lavender orpington roo over cuckoo Maran chicks in my backyard. Some have a splash looking color, two have copper feathering coming in on the neck and one is all lavender (may have been from a lavender hen). What would you call their breed, or are they just considered...
Hi all! Just curious if anyone who has LO's can help me. We've bread from our Lav roo and two Lav hens a few times, but this is a first for us. Is it normal for some of the chicks to be black?? It's a lavxlav so it should breed true, right?? Am I missing something? Or will they lighten up over time?
That's an awesome tutorial, thank you! We adjusted her fairly quickly after you guys mentioned it, I didn't realize how much she was restricted.
If she truly does have Mareks, which seems to be the case, I'm not sure how how long I want her to suffer. She's started having twitches from the neck...
Thank you so much for such an awesome reply! To answer your questions...
We've had her since she was 3 weeks old, but she's always been on the small side. Her sister is big and beautiful, so I've always compared them to each other. She only gets treats once or twice a week and then it's just...
Hey guys! So I have a beautiful
25 week old lavender orpington named Chenelle that I noticed today wasn't standing with everyone else and was laying down on the floor in the coop. I figured she was just cold and coaxed her up, but she wouldn't stand. I thought maybe she was laying her first egg...
He already has his own area within the coop high up, the adults would never be able to get to him thankfully It's large enough that he would be in his own till at least 12 weeks. We've found integration goes best when they're at least bigger than my bantams, since they're the meanest in my...
I know you pretty much got your answer, but this is our 3 week babies from a lavender roo and a mama buff (pure accident, but we didn't mind). Just so you get an idea of color. The adult picture we found on Google.
So, I'm in a bit of a pickle and I guess I just need reassurance that I'm making the right decision. We had one baby chick hatch late fall naturally (I know, I know, it's super late for that). He's six weeks old now, but has DEFINITELY outgrown his brooder. He's completely feathered and no...
