    This month I have been keeping up with how many eggs I get a day by writing it down on my calendar. Since today is the last day of the month, I thought I would post my results. For the month of February, I got 310 eggs from 18 hens.

    Congrats! 1. I would not add grit until they are eating other things besides the chick starter. In fact, I never gave mine grit at all and they are ok. They get plenty of natural grit when they peck around in the dirt outside. Some people may not agree with not giving grit, but it works for me...

    Your hens are squating. If they are not already laying eggs, then they are about to start. They also squat for the rooster so he can mount them for mating. Maybe they think you are their rooster.

    *Sigh* Our EE lays a brown egg...

    Someone on another thread said that Ideal's often lay brown eggs...I hope not as that's why I bought 15. I got my EE from Ideal and they lay green and bluegreen eggs.
