It is scabby-like in nature. I am hesitant to pull it or anything since it seems like alive tissue at the bottom where it is connected (i.e. minor blood when given a slight tug).
She doesn’t seem bothered by it and is still living her normal life—so I’m not ultra concerned. Just looking for...
Hi, this 16-18 week old pullet has a blackish comb. I bought her and 3 others as black sex links. Her comb is more black than the others. Is it normal for her mix?
What is this on my chickens chest? if you pull on it a little, it bleeds a tiny bit at the base. I’m not sure what it is so i will leave it be until i have some idea. It looks like alive tissue on inside at base. See the pictures attached. zoomed in and out photos. about an inch or just over an...
That was the wound. Both layers (skin and crop) are now patched up as I noticed and addressed the wound last night. Not a wire. It happened near a fence and there were feathers (a lot) from where you see she is bald now. Crop was empty when I got to her.
My 5 year old barred rock hazel was found last night on her normal roost. She was acting completely normal but i always like to pet them because it’s nice. I discovered a wound on her below he neck into her crop! No blood anywhere but I later found clumps of feathers like something grabbed her...

She laid an egg today if that is important and i will be sure to...

Been a while for me too... I have 8 hens of various ages and breeds right now. 2 Barred rocks, 1 Isa Brown, 1 EE, 2 olive eggers, 1 RIR, and 1 French Maran. The RIR and EE are celebrating their 7th birthday next week!
this was found in the nesting box yesterday. It is yellow now due to sunlight. It was white with consistency of a large solid poop. Now hard with moisture inside. Found in coop with 2 barred rocks and 1 ISA brown. 2 barred rocks both laid normal eggs today. ISA brown is still molting but almost...
I don’t think she was ever able to clear her throat. I think dry drowning was probably her ultimate cause of death. She came out this morning and then started flipping around(like she was choking from something stuck in her throat). I picked her up and she stopped, and died a few moments later...
