    Mice in the coop!

We ended up with mice in our coop a few years back because we left doors open for free-ranging. They got into our foam board insulation in the roof and everywhere else. We cleaned everything out thoroughly, removed everything they could chew on, scrubbed the coop, added bars of Irish Spring...

    Do you have dust?!

We do cycle completely. We've not combined the two so that we avoid any pecking order issues.

    Do you have dust?!

8x12 with a 9x6 addition (including run areas). The inside of the coop is 8x8. We haven't done peeps in it because we keep our older chickens as long as possible for eggs. Looks like we're stuck with chicken dust. 😔. It's also nice to keep the peeps close to check on them. With people...

    Do you have dust?!

We're in our 8th year of chickens and about to get another batch of peeps. 🐤. We've started the peeps in a stock tank with pine shavings. Unfortunately by the time we can move them to their coop, our garages are caked in a crazy thick layer of dust that takes a week (or longer) to clean up...

    Heating plates for baby chicks

We are looking at getting a heat plate for our new bunch of chicks come April. We questioned the size, concerned about as they grow. Generally we get 15 chicks. We were going to go with the 12x12. Do you have experience in the sizing of these?

YES...lots of work but finally got the pics & info in here. *****This is not our actual coop; it is the basis for our design. Thanks to the wonderful folks who built this one. We expanded on their ideas below.***** Since we need a larger space for our 15 chickens, we will double stack the...

    Hen door

Even if the run is 1/2" welded wire? Been wondering the same thing. You've seen the plans...not sure where something would get in. Best not to chance it?

Looking for input on designing our chicken coop

Thanks for the welcome! Not sure when that will be but I have it all in a word doc so at least it can be emailed. I tried to copy & paste with no luck. 'Course trying to do things 1-handed isn't helping.

Looking for input on designing our chicken coop

My husband and I are..well....anal. We've been researching chickens & coops and all things raising chickens for 1-1/2 years. The chickens are on order & due for May delivery. Sadly I've fallen & broken my arm. Hubby is building the chicken coop...well...we thought on his spring break but...
