They don't have a pool right now only their drinking water. I live in northern michgan and the pool would freeze right now. I've got the male posted where possible to find him a home.
I am still new to having ducks. Mine aren't quite a year old yet. I found my first duck egg today. I have a female pekin, 1 male mallard, and 1 male rouen. I know I have to get rid of one of the males before mating season so that they don't kill one another over the pekin. I thought mating...
The ducks are roughly 6 months old. I know the female just hit laying age last month. I would have to get rid of one of the males because my boyfriend let me get them so that we could have their eggs, he doesn't want all males.
Gotcha. So just adding one more female won't work therefore I guess I will have to give the male duck away and just have 1 and 1 until I'm able to have the correct ratio.
I meant separate the 2 males. Leave one with the female and put the other male in a separate pen until mating season is over. I would love to be able to add to my duck collection but we don't have the room right now.
After listening to the audio my white duck is definitely a female. I know my other 2 are for sure males. 1 is a mallard and 1 is a rouen. What do I do with males? Do I separate them?
I have 2 males and 1 female. My other duck (unsure of the sex died before they were full grown). I'm also not even for sure that my Pekin is a female. I'm just going by what i've read on here. But all 3 ducks have been together since they were ducklings!
I was told by someone that because I have 2 males that one will kill the other in the spring time when mating season happens. Is this true? If so what can I do to prevent that from happening? Thank you!
So I live in Northern Michigan. We get get snow and sometimes lots of it! Last couple of years it been colder than normal too. That said I need to know how to winterize my 3 ducks? Please and thank you!
I have a kiddie pool for my ducks right now and I would love to get a pool like this for them. But my only concern is the cleaning of it. How do you clean a pool that big? I know for human use you would use the chlorine system but I also know that isn't safe for the ducks.
