My chickens havent laid an egg in 5 months!

Hi 👋 I have 5 pet chooks who are all about 2 yrs old (2 Orpingtons, 2 Faverolles, 1 silkie). They have always been good layers but have not been laying eggs for the past 4 months! It's winter in nz at the moment so I thought they might be too cold but all my friends hens are laying.. . Should...

while holding a chicken on my Lap

I discovered a way to make my chickens love me more today, but I feel a bit weird about it... lol 😄 So I was hanging out with my Orpingtons today, they're really friendly handraised girls and boys. I went to pat one and put both my hands under her wings and firmly massaged her waist and top...

How long will hen sit on eggs?

Great thanks for the advice! I've managed to source some half baked fertile eggs so I'll pop those under her this weekend and she may have chicks sooner than she expected. I've only ever hatched eggs in an incubator so having a hen hatch her own is a new exciting thing for us all!

How long will hen sit on eggs?

I'm letting my chook hatch eggs for the first time. We have a rooster so I figured the 6 eggs she's been sitting on for the last 10 days would be fertile. Candled them tonight and they're all blanks unfortunately. If I get some fresh fertile eggs under her soon will she carry on sitting for the...

Imprinted Canada Gosling - MILLIONS OF QUESTIONS

Hi im just wondering how things are going with your Canada goose? I live in New Zealand (they are not a protected species here) and have found myself the mother of an orphaned hatchling. How did you teach him to self soothe and stop screaming for you 24/7? I had to put him in my bed last night...

Help with raising wild Canada gosling

I have become mother to an orphaned gosling (larry) that was maybe a day old when we got it. He is in the brooder with 4 juvenile chickens and is thriving with regular sessions outdoors and good nutrition. The trouble is he screams the house down when im out of his sight! I thought he would like...

    Does anyone use this incubator?

So dumb they call them "beginners" incubators! You actually have to be a hatching expert to roll with everything these cheap models throw at you! I've just bought an RCom incubator. Half the price of a Brinsea but WOW! I just went away for 3 days knowing the incubator would look after my...

    Does anyone use this incubator?

You're welcome! Don't panic too much about the Humidity either. My levels fluctuate continually between 25% and 65% from day 1. As long as you have generally over 65% during the last 3 (lockdown) days you'll be fine. I spray a mist over the eggs during lockdown to really get that humidity as...

    Does anyone use this incubator?

To reset the "day countdown" press the Reset button for about 10 seconds. Any other question I'm happy to help 🙂 I have a manual too but all the questions you asked are not in there... do you know how to set your alarm parameters?

    Does anyone use this incubator?

I have one very similar to this. To remove the turning tray lift the rows up/out from the one side first, then the other. You can't just take out one row. It doesn't take very big eggs, use average size chicken eggs. Make sure to put another thermometer in with the eggs. My machine needs set to...
