I have read on here someone saying they were copper maran and austrolop mixed for egg color. Hoover does not say as much on their website so I think that was just speculation. Regardless they have become my favorite.

Mine always do that around that age. I call it the angry teen phase. Once they mature and get close to laying they go back to their old friendly selves, as soon as I start seeing red combs and wattles and squatting. It seems to be a normal phase, just keep trying.

Got my first egg when they were almost 5 and a half months old on Aug 5th. I think it's only one laying so far. Three have nice bright red large wattles and have started squatting. Their entire demeanor changed as soon as they matured. They are so easy to handle now. I really love these birds.
