Good evening,
I just sprayed every one of my birds and sprayed the freshly cleaned coop with electro psp. I have some of the solution left over. I'm wondering if it is safe to pour down the drain. How do you dispose of it? Hoping this combats my lice infestation.
Thanks!
Ok! More polish it is. I have 17 chickens, 2 of which are polish. How many more should I consider getting and is it better to get ones of the same age or younger and keep them separate till they mature? I'd be jealous if I were the other chickens too. She and the other one are gorgeous!
Water, my beautiful polish, is no longer so beautiful. My chickens have literally plucked every single feather out of her head. I'm worried her head is going to get cold and she's going to get sick. Also it must hurt when they do this. I understand that they have established a pecking order, but...
Thanks everyone. We're in the process of giving him his own space. He does draw blood on 2 of them. I will take everyone's advice and hold off on getting an older rooster. :)
Wow that's a lot to think about. My hens are the same age as him. I'll attempt to separate him not quite sure how to do this at the moment. I would need to do a little reconstruction on the coop. What if I get a gentle giant?
Hello,
I have a roster problem. He's 4 months old and really sweet to people and a little shy around us, but he's a total dick to the ladies. He plucks their feathers out, takes food from them, and chases them. I don't want to let him go, because my daughter and I have grown attached to him...
I made their brooder a lot larger the other day, so I am hoping this helps. They already seem happier. I also put grit in their food daily. I will look into adding grass and other foods. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully the problem does not persist. I'll remove her or the cockerel today if I...
Their coop is almost complete. It's 12X16X8. I made their brooder much larger. It's now 7X4. Hoping this helps. Only the cockerel seems to be bothering her. I'll remove him today if I don't see any improvement. Thank you for your help. This is tough.
Hello,
First time chick raiser here. I have 19 chicks, 18 female, 1 rooster. They are 5 weeks old and healthy. I have a problem though. They were in a 4X3X3 brooder and it got cramped, so I enlarged it. But over the past week, my cockerel, Salmon Favorelle, pecked all the feathers off one of...
Hello everyone,
I'm new to Backyard Chickens and this is my first time raising a flock of ladies (and one hopefully pleasant beautiful rooster)! My chicks are a little over a month and we are building their coop now. My question is about automatic chicken doors. I've read many of the past...
