Ended Official BYC Contest - Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2015

My buff orpington flock is going through molt. My hens never peck but one is spending time on top of the nests by herself. When I tried to pick her up she pecked me. her feathers are growing back slowly. She is upset.

My Buff Orpington with oviduct prolapse / prolapsed vent. Warning, pictures are graphic!

My buff orpington hen also prolapsed. I followed the same basic treatment schedule. I bought antibiotic in granular form but did not use it. The membrane did not stay inside after repeated attempts using sugar, Prep H, Epsom salt baths and in a cage with no light for a few days. The membrane...

    Prolapsed vent

Buff Orpington hen 4 months old. On Monday noticed a large protrusion from vent. It was a normal sized egg which eventually came out. Now red mass on third day. Keeping in dark room, Epsom salts, sugar on the wound, and prep H. Prolapse will not stay in. Doesn't appear to have any eggs...

how long does it take to lay an egg?

Fifteen Buff Orpington pullets - March, 2014 hatch - 20 weeks old, six are laying small, brown eggs. So far good fortune as far as keeping them healthy. I really enjoy my chickens. We also have two BO roosters.

Comment by 'sasnak45' in article 'Cleaning and storing fresh eggs'

I have always cleaned my eggs exactly the way that the article suggested. No bad eggs ever . I have a new flock of 15 Buff pullets and can't wait for the first egg. It should be late July. Very nice breed of birds, even the roosters (2) are friendly.

If chickens are not laying during winter, do they ever start gain.

I have 2 white leghorns 20 months old. I haven't gotten an egg from either one in a month. If they don't begin laying soon, they might be for the pot. They are really nice looking hens, but no eggs. Has anyone ever had this problem. I know egg laying slows way down in the winter, but is...

    Broody Hen?

I have a hen who isn't eating too much, she was never attacked by the roosters, but now they pursue her mercilessly - all 3 of them. She paces a lot, and wants to sit on the nest, but no eggs. Could she just broody:?

    what could be wrong

my female RIR is breathing, making little raspy noises. I noticed she didn't join in at meal time this morning and now she is staying by herself. What could be wrong. It has been 100 degrees fir the last week, so conditions are rough.
