I had planned to take the latest one down for necropsy, but due to heat and my wife being unable to get her in to the cooler, she laid in the heat too long and decomp had already started to the point I was not putting her in any cooler we have. I do know where I have to take them for that, as I...
Where: from 2 different individual. The first 2 lost were from one person and the 3rd from another.
We have not seen any indication of any disease.
Toxin: I dont know of anything toxic they could be ingesting.
Since we started with chickens around 3 month ago, we have(as of today) we have lost3 hens. They have all passed in the exact same manner. They were all just fine running around eating/foraging, and taking dust baths. Then suddenly they start agonal breathing and then not long after, they just...
Finished covering the run this morning. Only a couple of small things left to do. Going to use some old white hospital sheets on top of the wire over the run so they have some morning shade.
Well our chicks are about a week old now and doing great. Thank you to everyone for all of the input and advice.
My wife started a second round yesterday, hopefully it goes as good or better than the first one.
We have made some additional improvements to the new coop. We have added the overhang, added a run, and a soon to be cover over the run. We will post some pics tomorrow when the overhang is finished.
I do already have 24 hens. I have a coop plenty large enough, but have Guinea keets in my chicken tractor until I can turn them out or put them in with my chickens. I have a feed room in my coop, but I dont have a brooder set up in there yet. The setup I have is too big for the feed room.

So how long should they stay in the brooder? We are having to keep them in the house because it's been so hot here, we cant control the temp out in the coop.
Ok everyone, our hatch has finally finished. We had 11 of 14 hatch. Unfortunately, we lost one. The other 10 are doing great. Thank you to everyone here. Your help is greatly appreciated.
We now have 10. We had 11, but one apparently wasn't ready to be moved. It was too weak and got in to the water and drowned. We still have one more that might hatch yet.
4 more have hatched since the last update. I'm so glad they are hatching. I was sure that I had screwed up the temps and humidity that I had killed them all. Glad to see that it hasn't been a waste of life or time. Still have a few more to go. Hope to see them by the end of the day. We will post...
I made this new feeder today. We decided to try fermented feed for our girls. I had seen where someone use vinyl gutter for feeders, I I made this one. Cost about $20.
(1) 10' piece of gutter cut in half
(4) end caps
(2) old deck boards for a base and weight to hold them still.
