    I have one about the same age I can't tell either. My drake will grab him/her by the back of the neck and ride but I can't tell if it is displaying dominance or trying to breed.

    I have 2 blue and 2 black French copper maran hens covered by a black French copper maran rooster and a few of the chicks I hatched from them are clean legged. Is this normal?

    When mine have done that I put them on the roost with their moms. Within a couple days they will start getting up on their own.

    Broody Hen Thread!

    Hatching day came a couple days later then expected and am excited because I thought they weren't going to hatch. Around day 17 she got confused and sat in her old nesting box most of the day. Hope to see more chicks in the morning!

    Thank you! I plan on making some modifications in the coming days. This is my first year with chickens and I have much to learn but I'm awfully excited about her hatching these chicks.

    7 more days to hatching! The box she was sitting in was kinda high off the ground and knew I needed to move her just worried about disturbing her. But in ten minutes she is back on her eggs. Hope this was the right move.

    I'm new at this and I have a broody hen that is sitting on some fertilized eggs. Other hens continue to get in the box with her and lay eggs which she just tucks under her, should I move her daily and pull out the fresh eggs? I am worried it will freak her out and I really want her to hatch...
