Just went out this morning. I put a space heater out there and it maintained 70+ degrees last night in the garage. They were out standing on the heat plate when I went outside. All active and eating/drinking. I did notice red tinted poop this morning though so I started corid immediately. Can...
I’ve always had sneezy chicks with pine shavings, so that’s what I thought it was initially. I will add the ginger! And more heat. I’m new to the brooder plate so I didn’t know if that would really be enough heat. Thank you!
That’s honestly what I’m hoping is the issues and that it’s nothing more! I will use heat lamp for their area plus the brooder plate tonight so they stay warmer! Thank you
This is the first time I’ve ordered chicks, I usually only order eggs. The 16 chicks arrived Thursday in perfect condition but after about 2 days I noticed they are sneezing a bit and a couple have a tiny bit of nasal discharge. Today, I noticed one sounds like it has a little bit of chest...
Mine are now 8.5 weeks and we do have one of each! The slow feathering, smaller one in the older post is my Roo! Here is a picture from today. You can really see the difference!
Good point. Maybe I should get a couple chicks from somewhere local to give her. I really don’t want to chance it with the BCMs and the BBS orps from this hatch.. the eggs were too expensive and shipped so I didn’t get the best hatch rate.
I have a hen right now sitting on fake eggs. She has gotten so broody she attacks me when she comes out and runs back to sit on the eggs. Do you think I can get away with putting these 5 day old babies under her??
Update: here are the 10 sweet babies! They are doing well, and as soon as they hit a week, I will put them in bigger brooder with chicks that are 2 weeks older.
AND, I remembered to turn off the light when I took the picture so you can see their cuteness better!
Thank you all for your help!!
I started Nutridrench right away and vet wrapped the foot. She kicked it off and I attempted to put another on but need my husband to help. It has one toe that curls up and one that curls down, both are difficult to get straight and I don’t want to push too hard and injure it. Hoping the...
We are only at about 500 ft and had a lot of snow this week! Probably got about 8 inches total, but not all at once. I was hoping spring was going to make an early appearance but I should know better than to try to predict Oregon weather!
Doing well! It was born with very curled toes on one foot, so I’m working to correct it. We have 5 that have hatched so far! I’ll post pictures once hatching is done!
