Like the title says just want to confirm that I do indeed have 2 pullets. My town does not allow roosters. Had bad luck last year with a barred rock and hoping my luck is better this year.
So we got our first chickens last spring and we love it. Today I noticed that a few of our chickens are missing feathers on their necks. Never observed this before and not sure what is going on. I just noticed today so not exactly sure when it started.
Got 2 new chicks this spring to add to our flock of 5. We got a barred rock, to replace one from last year that was a rooster and then an Ameruacana, because we were hoping for blue eggs. Pretty sure the one is a barred rock but not sure the other is an Ameruacana because I don't see the puffy...
So our family started our first flock this spring and fell in love. We had 6 chicks at first but were forced to give up our barred rock because he was a cockerel and we are not allowed to have them. We promised our son that we would get another barred rock in the spring and wanted to add 2 more...
we have a flock of 5, was 6 but one was a rooster. We know we want a few more, 3 tops. So do we add now so they lay come spring or wait until spring. We are still new to chickens. And this is our first flock that we bought just before Easter.
My birds just started laying as well. And at first they were laying up in the area of their roost. I placed golf balls into the nesting boxes and after 3 days I started finding their eggs in the nesting boxes. So maybe try golf balls? Also you didn't say how old your birds are, but I am guessing...
Nice birds. I am in Toms River. I also got 2 birds from Jersey Chickens. Our Jersey Blue just started laying on Sunday and she has given us an egg everyday since then.
