    Can chickens eat algae?

I have a pond with algae problems as well. It composts well and makes a decent mulch as well

    Soffit vent and chicken wire

I put mine on the outside about 6 years ago. Have had no problems, and have the small bonus of another hiding place for the chickens’ cat.

What did you do in the garden today?

If you like dill green beans I use packaged Mrs Wages Dill Pickle mix. Since I don’t need 7 quarts of “dilly beans” I just use a little math and do a pint at a time. That’s about 13 grams of mix. I do the same for cucumbers. That way I can pickle a pint or a quart at a time while cucumbers are...

    Barn Cats and Chickens

Our barn cat is about four years old, he was rescued from a shelter. At first they would not allow us to save him (death sentence in 24 hours) apparently because it was more humane to kill him then to make him live with chickens. The manager allowed us to take him. He has lived in the chicken...

    Oatmeal?

My wife loves to feed our chickens uncooked oatmeal mixed with Greek yogurt. They love it.

    Horseradish help

I grew up on Miller’s Horseradish from Lockport. I now garden in East Texas zone 8a and horseradish has grown so well it has become a weed problem. My chickens love the leaves as they do mustard greens. Never had any complaints on the taste of their eggs. I have found that my horseradish grows...
