    Hen with tail down.

One of our hens was attacked by a dog a few days ago. She doesn't appear to be injured, though she is subdued and her tail feathers have been down since the attack. I suppose she is still scared or in shock.

    Vaccinate 10-week chicken?

Thanks. It’s beyond me why they don’t vaxx their chicks. Just wondering what can be done at this age.

    Vaccinate 10-week chicken?

Hello I have a 10 week old chicken from a neighbor who did not vaccinate him as a chick. I’d like to get him vaccinated with whatever is possible but I’ve called several exotic animal vets who do not vaccinate chickens. Does anyone have any idea how I can get him vaccinated or do it myself?

The very next hen that pecks at my polish's crest...

Thanks for all the posts on this subject. I’ve isolated my polish rooster after noticing a bloody mess on his head. Is there anything I can put on his wounds to heal better/faster? When it has healed, I’m going to try the pine tar method.

One breed not laying, others are

I thought that, too, but there are no signs of molting yet.

One breed not laying, others are

I have four Buff Orpingtons who are two years old and two Easter Eggers who are 20 weeks old. The EEs are laying eggs regularly, but the Orps have stopped completely. It's probably been three or four weeks since I've seen an egg from them. They get plenty of daylight, free-range, and appear...

What dosage corid for 2 week old chicks

Thank you. On the receipt I have from the farm I bought them from, it mentions (vaguely) doing this, so I thought I'd get a second opinion.

What dosage corid for 2 week old chicks

Can Corid be given to chickens under six months even if they don't have any symptoms, as a preventative measure?

    Adding pullets and a rooster

Ok, so I’m going to medically quarantine new birds in a 10’x10’ enclosure about 50’ from the existing coop/run for a month. Existing birds will be confined to their coop/run (no free-ranging during this time). Then I’ll move the new birds to the 4’x8’ enclosure within the run for a week so...

    Adding pullets and a rooster

The new pullets will be about 3.5 months old, I’m going to get them in two weeks. Thank you for all the info!

    Adding pullets and a rooster

Yes, but won’t the hens stand a better chance with a rooster around?

    Adding pullets and a rooster

Thanks! Any suggestion on what kind of rooster? My hens are all Buff Orps, and I want to add Easter Eggers. The rooster will be to protect the hens from air assaults (eagles, hawks).

    Adding pullets and a rooster

Thanks. They will be physically separated from the rest of the flock and will have their own food and water.

    Adding pullets and a rooster

Thanks. Is your reason that one rooster to four hens is not a good ratio?

    Adding pullets and a rooster

Hello, I currently have four hens who free range most of the day. I want to add three pullets and a rooster. I know I’m not going to add the pullets and the rooster at the same time, but which should I add first, the pullets or the rooster, or does it matter? I have a separate 4’ x 8’...
